Biography

Henry Aguilar is a registered architect in New York whose work unites design, craft, and construction into a cohesive and thoughtful practice. From historic rowhouses and loft conversions to refined apartment renovations and contemporary homes abroad, Henry brings precision, creative discipline, and a grounded understanding of how great architecture is built.

His dedication to the field began long before formal training, rooted in early years spent in fine art, mathematics, drawing, building, and tinkering. He studied architecture for seven years; balancing rigorous academic demands while working full time in professional settings. Before founding HA Architecture Studio, Henry managed a fabrication company, co-owned a millwork studio, taught at city colleges, and practiced architecture at the Brooklyn Studio. Through these roles he collaborated closely with partners, associates, professors, and professionals, building lasting relationships that continue to influence his practice and network today. He approaches every challenge with persistence and focus, understanding that architectural discourse is just as important as maintaining strong relationships with experts across the field. These experiences shaped a profound understanding of architecture and construction that informs his work at every level.

About the Studio

HA Architecture Studio reflects the full reach of Henry’s diverse background. Its design sensibility combines modern clarity with a commitment to fine craftsmanship. The studio draws from classical proportion, contemporary detailing, and a deep respect for materials. Spaces are shaped to be functional, warm, and enduring, rooted in the belief that meaningful architecture supports daily life rather than existing only for visual appeal. Each project is guided by careful listening, thoughtful iteration, and a desire to create environments that feel both purposeful and effortless. Every commission benefits from the studio’s ability to anticipate complexities, articulate clear solutions, and navigate the intricate processes of New York City agencies and local requirements.

The studio leads each commission with care, whether restoring a historic property, renovating a loft or city apartment, or designing a ground up residence. Its guiding ethos is simple. Modern practice shaped by timeless principles.

Henry is a family-driven individual who cares deeply for those around him. The demands of his early career taught him the importance of steadiness, reflection, and the clarity that comes from a strong foundation at home. He believes that a centered life produces clearer thinking and ultimately better architecture. For Henry, architecture grows out of the rhythms of daily living. People inhabit their spaces, adapt them, and shape them over time. This understanding guides his approach to designing homes that feel calm, warm, personal, and genuinely livable.
